TEKOA MALE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM
The Tekoa boys’ facility offers a wide variety of treatment programs targeted for our at-risk youth. We have a newly constructed state of the art residential facility designed to provide a home atmosphere that teaches the principals of sustainable living.
We are located in the Town of Christiansburg, VA on a 17 acre site overlooking the community. We offer a neighborhood setting that is close to area parks, businesses and public transportation. We are a 20 bed facility with 4 of those beds being designated to emergency placements and for usage of short term psychological evaluations.
A wide variety of treatment options are available to our residents. We emphasize the importance of family and therefore our residents and their families are involved in family treatment on an ongoing basis. We offer substance abuse treatment and provide various treatment groups focusing on issues such as anger management and personal growth. We are experientially based and offer many outdoor activities such as caving and rock climbing which are conducted by certified staff. We believe in the importance of giving back and being involved in the community. Therefore, we have ongoing service learning activities which allow our residents to interact with the community in a positive and charitable fashion. It is our goal to help our young men to learn mastery over the difficult issues that confront them.
We serve “at-risk” boys ages 12-17. We accept a wide variety of diagnoses, treatment issues and behavioral problems that prohibit the child from being successful in their lives and with their families. We accept children from all Virginia localities and are open to out of state placements.
