Building Relationships For Life

TEKOA COMMUNITY SCHOOL

Tekoa currently operates two single gender schools for students with disabilities, both licensed by the Virginia Department of Education as a Special Education School and accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Special Education Facilities (VAISEF). Tekoa Schools specialize in assessing and addressing each student’s academic, social and behavioral needs while providing a safe secure and healthy communal learning environment. Tekoa Schools can provide intensive 1-to-1, small group, and functional, relevant learning situations with qualified, caring staff. We utilize creative hands-on learning approaches that involve the student in a variety of learning opportunities. Our major thrust at the Community School is to explore what it means (for each of us) to be a part of a community and how all communities are an integral part of the greater world community. Tekoa School provides for the “Core” academic needs of each student, while offering a variety of life enhancing elective opportunities.

Tekoa Community School for boys is located in a restored period house in Christiansburg, Virginia. Liscenced by the Virginia Department of Education as a Special Education School and accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Special Education Facilities (VAISEF), the school accepts a limited number of community day students in addition to the Tekoa male residents.

Tekoa School for girls is located on a beautiful campus in the Pilot section of Floyd, Virginia.
