TEKOA FEMALE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM
Tekoa’s Female Residential Program focuses on building therapeutic relationships with our residents to help them develop coping skills and the ability and confidence to be assertive in challenging social and personal situations. We promote residents’ growth in our community to reintegrate them into their home communities as their ability to form appropriate and healthy relationships increases.
Tekoa’s Female Residential Program is located on 75 acres in Pilot, Virginia in Floyd County. Our campus and the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway provide our girls with a tranquil atmosphere and a variety of outdoor recreational activities. In addition to the residential facility, on site we have a special education school, a fully-equipped barn with up to 8 horses, two riding rings, a volleyball court, a basketball court and a garden. These on-site resources provide our residents with opportunities such as nature walks, hiking, biking, gardening, horseback riding, and various sporting activities.
We also offer various off-campus opportunities. We are located only 20 minutes from the town of Christiansburg, which offers malls, theaters, and restaurants. We are also 35 minutes from two State Universities, Virginia Tech and Radford and 45 minutes away from several private colleges in Roanoke, VA. These institutions afford our residents the opportunity for diverse educational and cultural experiences.
Up to 16 girls live in our nurturing, home-like environment. The residents’ rooms and staff offices adjoin the central living and dining areas, promoting interaction among residents, therapists, recreation coordinator, and case manager. Our living room and dining area surround a fireplace that adds to the cozy environment in the winter months.
